What is Lord of Dwarves? (short version)
Lord of Dwarves is a resource gathering, dwarf management, crafting game, with a 3D voxel world where you build a castle and test how it stands up against hordes of invading monsters. What is Lord of Dwarves? (long version) In Lord of Dwarves you manage a group of Dwarves who live in a completely constructible/destructible 3D 'block' world. You decide what tasks they should spend their time on. Including mining, farming, construction, weapon/armor smithing and more. The game is highly customizable and supports multiple play modes including a Campaign, Sandbox, & Scenario mode. You can customize a high action world where invaders constantly test your defenses. Create walls for defense and watch invading forces climb them with ladders or break through them with sappers. Improve on those defenses against ever more powerful armies. Dig deep into the earth to uncover rare and powerful metals with which you can craft the most powerful arms and armor for your soldiers. Or create a sandbox style game where enemies are sparse and invaders rare. Concentrate on gathering resources to create ever grander structures. Become the master of your world and rule over a well oiled infrastructure. What features does Lord of Dwarves include?
Is there a Campaign? Yes! Lord of Dwarves features a full campaign with unique objectives. The campaign also acts as a tutorial. No need to turn to wikis or videos to learn to play, everything is explained in game. Is there a Sandbox Mode? Yes! Lord of Dwarves has an extensively customizable sandbox mode. Control terrain size, height, roughness, and topology. Customize monster type and frequency, or turn monsters completely off and concentrate on sandbox style building. Even select a climax event like a demon invasion or an attack by an elite monster to give your game an exciting conclusion! What is the Challenge Mode? Challenges are independent scenarios with a specific objective to accomplish. Challenges often highlight a small set of game mechanics allowing the player to focus on those mechanics. Often challenges have a specific starting state or special game rules which allows the player to focus on the challenge and not be bogged down with unrelated tasks. I heard you're only using Open Source Software to develop this game. Is that true? Yes! Free software has come a long way. The tools I use to write code, create 3D models, build textures, etc. are all open source and totally free. (Don't worry, Lord of Dwarves will still run on Windows). Who is making this game? Just me, Nick Matyas. It started out as a hobby and soon became much more. Do you do this full time? No, I actually have a day job. I work full time as a software engineer on a military tactical simulation software. It's pretty boss! What is the release date? Lord of Dwarves is releasing feature-complete with a full Campaign and Sandbox in early access on March 8, 2019! Why early access? Although all the major features including the Campaign and Sandbox are done, I still want to tweak and polish Lord of Dwarves. I'm excited to get feedback from players to improve Lord of Dwarves even more! Where can I find out more? Find Lord of Dwarves on Steam! Check out my indiedb page for additional updates! |
