Troubleshooting FAQ
I click Lord of Dwarves but the game doesn't launch.
Some virus checkers silently prevent unknown executables from running. Temporarily disable your virus checker to run Lord of Dwarves. Alternatively manually allow Lord of Dwarves (or all steam games) to be run.
For example with Avast Virus Checker do something like:

- Open Avast
- Click Real Time Shields
- Click File System Shield
- Click Expert Settings
- Click the Exclusions tab
- Add the Steam directory e.g. "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam"
Lord of Dwarves crashed! Or I cannot run Lord of Dwarves for some other reason.
Please email me the log files. The log files help me fix bugs, I really appreciate the effort it takes to email these to me!
Windows Logs:
The log files are located in your "My Documents\My Games" directory:
C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\LordOfDwarves\logs
Linux Logs:
/home/<User>/.local/share/LordOfDwarves/logs
or
$XDG_DATA_HOME/LordOfDwarves

Steam won't launch Lord of Dwarves. Or goes into an infinite "Preparing to Launch" loop.
- Exit steam and restart
- Restart your computer
- Delete the clientregistry.blob file. By default it is located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\clientregistry.blob
I have a save file for an old version of Lord of Dwarves, how do I load it?
Warning while running an old version you will not get updates, bug fixes, or new features until you manually turn the legacy version off!
- In Steam right click on Lord of Dwarves. Click Properties
- Select the BETAS Tab
- Under Select the beta, select the legacy branch for the version you'd like to run (e.g. "legacy_v0_21" for Lord of Dwarves v0.21.X)
- Steam will download the old version for you to play
